many years ago when i lived in san francisco, i took a writing class from Norman Wilner. I was inspired to write many poems, especially when i moved back to Maui (where i grew up). this is one of those poems which i later sat down with my new maui swap meet guitar and made into a song.
lyrics
If cows had wings and could fly fly away
Where would they go? Where would they go?
If cows had wings and could fly fly away
Where would they go? Where would they go?
chorus
Where would they go oh where would they go? I'd like to know
Where would they go?
Where would they go oh where would they go? I'd like to know
Where would they go?
If clams had legs and could run run away
Where would they go? Where would they go?
If clams had legs and could run run away
Where would they go? Where would they go?
chorus
If birds had cars and could drive drive away?
Where would they go? Where would they go?
If birds had cars and could drive drive away?
Where would they go? Where would they go?
chorus
If kittens had bicycles and could pedal away,
Where would they roam would it be far from home?
If kittens had bicycles and could pedal away,
Where would they roam would it be far from home?
(Would they be home for dinner?)
chorus
The questions I've raised are important to me like
I see the bee, does the bee see me?
everybody
